INTRODUCTION
Last week we spoke about the Israelites unwillingness to trust in God. Neither did they trust Moses, whom the Lord said they should put their trust in.
God had proved Himself many times over saving the Hebrews, from slavery, poor treatment, the Egyptian armies, starvation, thirst, the list goes on and on. As far as Moses is concerned, he too had proved himself to them. Moses had been to Mt. Sinai half a dozen times, and returned every time. This time, however, was different, because God kept him there forty days and nights.
I spoke a little last week about the number forty in scripture and how it represents trial, testing, probation, and how it wasn’t Moses who was being tested, but the Israelites.
They failed, and demanded Aaron build them an idol. He did what they asked, collected gold and built them an idol.
They worshiped it saying, “And he took this from their hand (the gold collected) and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it into a molten calf; and they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.” And Aaron looked and built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to Yahweh.” So the next day they rose early and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink and rose up to play.” In Exodus 32:4-6
Sound familiar?
Matthew 24:37-39 “For just as the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
Eat, drink and be merry.
I Corinthians 15:32-34 “If from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, LET US EAT AND DRINK, FOR TOMORROW WE DIE. Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” Become righteously sober-minded, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.”
Eat, drink and be merry is not an instruction from scripture, rather a warning that you not fall asleep while awaiting Christ’s return.
Moses, sent by Yahweh to “save” the people typifies Christ.
As the people awaited his return from being in the presence of Yahweh on Mt. Sinai, they grew impatient, and turned to worshiping idols. And, as Jesus said in Matthew 24:38-39 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
Moses returned from the mountain to find the Hebrews partying so loudly, eating and drinking and singing and dancing, that Moses thought the camp was being attacked.
Watch this…
Exodus 32:4-6 “Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to Yahweh.” So the next day they rose early and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink and rose up to play.”
Aaron, the one who would be high priest, the spiritual leader while Moses was away, the one all the people looked at for holy guidance, “MADE A PROCLAMATION.”
To which I say, so, what.
No matter WHO declares a proclamation, denominational rule, church tradition, if it contradicts Yahweh’s Word, it is nothing but a tradition of man.
Which Jesus stated to the “Religious leaders,” nullifies the Word of God. You know what nullify means? “Reverses.” The traditions of men, whether proclaimed by so called religious leaders (even the ones appointed by God, such as Aaron,) block, reverse, or put a stop to the Word of God.
Nothing, no one, elected or selected, can change, add-to, take away from God’s Holy Word.
You may as well be placing an UNO Reverse card down on scripture, it had just as much effect upon the Word. You are only quenching the Spirit of God and His Holy Word and work in your life.

SCRIPTURE READING

Moses returned to the mountain and received, not just new stone tablets, but the Glory of Yahweh. This was all could see Moses had found favor with God. This happened because the goodness of Yahweh passed before Moses.
No one can see God’s face and live, as stated in Exodus 33:19, but His Goodness passing before Moses made him glow, and the Hebrews knew he had the favor of Yahweh.
When Moses returned, he gathered people and items and materials and the created all Moses had been instructed to build.
Ark of the covenant, table of showbread, menorah, ( watched a movie the other night where these kids were supposed to be Jewish, but were in a picture with the 7 stand menorah as opposed to the 9 which is the only one allowed outside of the Temple.
Everything including the Tabernacle were built according to what God had told Moses.
Exodus 35:3 – 40:33 was the collecting of materials and people to create and build everything Yahweh had instructed Moses.
The following is a quick breakdown of the entire book of Exodus we have examined over the last year. We began Exodus in January of 2022.
TODAY'S MESSAGE
I. The Analysis of Exodus
a. The Key verses of Exodus
i. Exodus 3:8 “So I have come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.”
ii. Exodus 12:23 “And Yahweh will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and He will see the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, and Yahweh will pass over the doorway and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to smite you.”
iii. What does Exodus teach the Hebrews and those of us in the New Covenant?
1. The Lord “came down” from heaven to deliver us
2. From the hand of “sin”
3. To bring us to a good and spacious land of milk and honey “heaven”
4. And Yahweh will pass through to smite “sinners”
5. And He will see the “blood” and will not allow the “destroyer” to smite you
iv. This is the picture of the New Covenant
1. Jesus came from Heaven – John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”
2. To deliver us from sin – Ephesians 2:6 “and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
3. Hebrews 9:27-28 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.”
4. I John 1:7 “but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

1. The rock in the wilderness typifying Christ our cornerstone, the rock upon which we build our faith.

Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. When we turn from God we sin. When we sin, we separate ourselves from God.
CONCLUSION
If everything we have read in Exodus, from the Passover to the building of the Tabernacle, is all a reference to Christ and the coming Salvation, then we must look at the bad along with the good in that very same light.
If there is blessings in keeping the commands of Yahweh in Exodus, then it is with the New Covenant that the Old foreshadowed.
AND, if there is punishment for breaking the covenant of Yahweh, then it too IS with the New Covenant that the Old foreshadowed.
We, as followers of Christ Jesus, grafted into the Body of Christ through the New Covenant, must be mindful in keeping “all that Christ commands,” as the Lord Himself states in Matthew 28.
This is not about perfection, but not giving up during the race. Not quitting the race to sit on the sidelines. We press on, sometimes running faster than other times, but still pressing on.
The Lord does not call us to be perfect, for only Christ was perfect. He calls us to trust in Him, and allow His Holy Spirit to continue a good work in us until the Day of Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 61:1-3 “The Spirit of Lord Yahweh is upon me Because Yahweh has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners, To proclaim the favorable year of Yahweh And the day of vengeance of our God, To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a headdress instead of ashes, The oil of rejoicing instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of Yahweh, that He may show forth His beautiful glory.”
Let us be Willing to Trust Yahweh in all Things
Trust the Lord your God and be patient on His Timing.
