INTRODUCTION

Over the past decade, our country has had a lot of turmoil. Ups and downs in the financial sectors, the housing market, socially, politically, and medically, and the adverse effects have been seen in our businesses, homes, and church.

Terrible times of conflict around the world. Our insane and unpredictable weather. Concerns over race issues, political use of people as pawns, social injustice, crime, drugs, the list goes on and on.

Over the years, I have spoken with many Christians and non-Christians who have expressed their fears and worries, which keep them up at night.

It is easy to say “fear not,” but harder to believe.

When we are bombarded daily with negative news and manipulating stories, everything is a tragedy, a terrible event. Nothing is good anymore.

The fact of the matter is nothing has ever truly been good since Genesis 3.

We forget because of the constant manipulating information being poured into us daily through social media, which has its own agenda, that this world has been in trouble since Genesis 3, and nothing in it is good.

Genesis 1:31 “God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.”

Genesis 3:17-19  cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until you return to the ground,”

You see, because of the fall, the Earth is cursed. So daily, we must face hard work just to eat, and while we toil, we will struggle with the thorns and thistles of this fallen world. We will work and sweat until the day we die.

This is the curse. Humankind has faced this since Genesis 3, and we will continue to face it until we die. So why does now feel different? Because the overlords who wish to control and manipulate people for their own gain have weaponized fear.

The powers of this world are controlled by evil forces, and they wish to control you through fear and lies. So who are the powers of the fallen world?

Ephesians 6:10-12 “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Heavenly places refer to the unseen spirit realm. But those of us who belong to the Lord have tools and power through Christ to navigate all the nonsense of this fallen world. In turn, we have a peace that others cannot understand because they are still blinded by the world's lies.

Ephesians 1:17-21 “I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, 18 so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. 20 God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come.”

There are many fears in the world today

People are fearful of so much, mainly because they are manipulated into fear by the powers of darkness. We can find ourselves fearing other people, evil, the climate and weather, terrors in the night, war, anxiety, leaders of the world and even our own country, lies, man, and even death itself.

There is so much fear in the world today. We have an entire generation of young people who are all neurotic, anxiety-filled, mentally unstable, and afraid of everything.

Many have been rendered helpless and hopeless because of what they have been taught in schools and through social media.

Read these verses from scripture and know that the fear of today may be re-branded, but it is nothing new. It is the same lies the devil has told for thousands of years.

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or be in dread of them, for Yahweh your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”

Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains shake into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its lofty pride. Selah.”

Psalm 91:4-5 “He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you will take refuge; His truth is a large shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of terror by night, Or arrow that flies by day;”

Psalm 27:3 “Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In this I trust.”

Isaiah 35:4 “Let those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life; Let those who devise evil against me be turned back and humiliated.”

Jeremiah 42:11 “‘Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you are now fearing; do not be afraid of him,’ declares Yahweh, ‘for I am with you to save you and deliver you from his hand.”

Matthew 10:26 “Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.”

Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Hebrews 13:6 “so that we confidently say, “THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?”

Though we are in this world, those who belong to the Lord are not part of it. Therefore, we belong to the kingdom and should not fear this world or what is happening in it.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”

Isaiah 41:13 “You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, Those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent.”

Psalm 34:4-5 “I inquired of Yahweh, and He answered me, And delivered me from all that I dread. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces will never be humiliated.”

Psalm 56:3-4 “When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?”

Lamentations 3:57 “You drew near when I called on You; You said, “Do not fear!”

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and self-discipline.”

CONCLUSION

Why is the world like it is?

Genesis 3:17-19  “cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until you return to the ground,”

And we were told these times would come.

2 Timothy 3:1-7 “But know this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, without gentleness, without love for good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Keep away from such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and take captive weak women weighed down with sins, being led on by various desires, always learning and never able to come to the full knowledge of the truth.”

And we are told what to do about it as well.

Psalm 27:1 “Yahweh is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strong defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?”

Therefore go forth in this new year without fear for the Lord is with you, and will strengthen you, and He is your shelter and mighty fortress. Call on His name and He will answer.
