SERMON INTRODUCTION
The Book of Revelation, or the Revelation of Christ, is the most challenging book in the bible.

Because of this fact, many avoid it or ignore it altogether. Some fear lack of understanding; others afraid to misinterpret, which I guess it is better to avoid than dive in and get it completely wrong.

Many times, when a new believer comes to me for direction, they want to jump right into Revelation and find out what’s to come.

This is equivalent to deciding one day to learn Mandarin and sitting down to author a novel in Chinese that very same day.

Or, a kindergartener learning how to count, and then trying to calculate quantum mechanics calculations.

The words in Revelation have caused much debate on rapture, judgment, even some who claim John was writing about the events in his day in code rather than Jesus Christ revealing to him about the coming events and Judgment.

A special blessing is promised to those who read Revelation.

Although it may be a difficult book, we could all use a special blessing, reading this is good for us all, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will take the Revelation of Christ in small portions and gain understanding, little by little.

SCRIPTURE READING

Revelation 11:15-19
The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said:

“The kingdom of the world has become
the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah,
and he will reign for ever and ever.”

16 And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying:

“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
the One who is and who was,
because you have taken your great power
    and have begun to reign.
18
The nations were angry,
    and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets
and your people who revere your name,
    both great and small—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”

19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.

          I.      THY KINGDOM COME
a.   The Seventh Angel sounds his trumpet
                                     i.   Loud voices in heaven say; “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His Messiah, and He will reign forever and ever.”

1.   The Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6, “Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”
ii.   Isn’t the earth already the Lord’s?
1.   Ephesians 6:11-12 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”
2.   1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
3.   Ephesians 2:2 “Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air (spirit realm), the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:”
4.   Because of sin, Satan rules the spiritual realm of earth, and is allowed to influence through deception and temptation because man is powerless if they do not have the Spirit of God.
5.   When Jesus returns, He judges and destroys “all those who destroy the earth” and reclaims what is rightfully His.

iii.   The problem some see with this part of revelation is the timing of judgments and rewards.

1.   However, I do not see a problem with this for the following reasons;
a.   “the world HAS BECOME the Kingdom of our Lord”

b.   Now that the Lord has reclaimed the world from Satan, it is once again His, and NOW it is time for the cleansing, the judgment, the punishment of those who destroyed the earth with sin. In comes the remaining wrath of God poured out upon the face of the earth, before the final judgments where eternal punishments and rewards are doled out.

b.   The 24 Elders who were seated fell on their faces worshiping God
                                     i.   The 24 Elders
1.   Represent the Old Covenant, and the New Covenant for God’s people

                                    ii.   They were seated
1.   In scripture, this is a sign of “completion”, a signal of being “finished”
2.   What is completed? What is finished?
3.   The Old Covenant, and the New Covenant…both were created by God to be “finished” when He returned as Lord and set His Kingdom upon Earth.
4.   That time has arrived!

c.   They (the 24 Elders) Fell on their faces worshiping God saying;
                                     i.   We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty
ii.   The One who is, and who was
iii.   Because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign
1.   This represents ALL of God’s people (Old and New Covenant) first giving thanks to Lord God Almighty and acknowledging His reign over all at the same time.
2.   Then they all acknowledge He is, was and always will be, eternal

3.   Then announcing that God is coming to the table to begin His reign on earth with all His great power, who could stand against Him? No one!

II.      THE TIME OF JUDGING IS HERE
a.   The nations were angry, and now your wrath has come
                                     i.   The time has come for judging the dead
ii.   And rewarding you servants the prophets
iii.   And your people who revere your name

iv.   This will take place after the Lord completes His reclaiming of the earth, which is happening before john’s eyes. This is the midpoint of Tribulation, and the Bowl Judgments are being poured out.

                                    v.   This pouring out of the Bowl Judgments completes the cleansing of the earth of those who refused the Old Covenant, refused the new Covenant, refused to repent and confess Christ during the remainder of Tribulation.

vi.   When these Bowl Judgments are complete, The judging of the dead will commence, the rewarding of the prophets, and the rewarding of the people who revere the Lord’s name.

b.   Both great and small
                                     i.   ALL will be judged
ii.   They will either receive punishment, or reward, either way, ALL will be judged.

c.   And the time has come for destroying those who destroy the earth
                                     i.   At this point (mid-point of Tribulation) those who have destroyed the earth with sin are going to be destroyed. This may be a reference to all the “powers” and “principalities” of the air (spirit)

III.      GOD’S TEMPLE IN HEAVEN OPENS
a.   The temple in heaven opens
                                     i.   The tabernacle on earth was the portable dwelling place of God.
ii.   Tabernacle meaning “residence” or “dwelling place”
iii.   The construction described in Exodus, it was the Tent of Congregation, or the tent of Meeting with God.

iv.   Later, the First Temple was built (Solomon’s Temple)
                                    v.   The Second Temple (Zerubabbel's temple)
vi.   The Third will be the Tribulation temple, which the antichrist will desecrate claiming to be God.

vii.   All of these temples are symbolic of God’s Heavenly Temple where He dwells. (Hebrews 9:23; Hebrews 8:5)

viii.   Here we see the TRUE Temple in heaven, the one these other’s “represented”, opens.

b.   Within His temple was the Ark of His Covenant
                                     i.   The Ark of the Covenant represents the Old Covenant
1.   It contained the 10 commands (The Word of God)
2.   Aaron’s rod (The miraculous flowering of the rod represents the resurrection of Christ)
3.   And a pot of manna (Bread of Life, Bread from heaven, a symbol of Christ)

ii.   The New Covenant Ark was Jesus!
1.   The Word made flesh
2.   Resurrected
3.   Manna from heaven

iii.   The Ark of the Covenant represents the Messiah

iv.   How did it get into God’s Temple in heaven?
1.   Currently, no one knows where Jeremiah hid the Ark.  People have made claims and written books purporting to know the location of the Ark. However, no one has revealed the Ark or its location. This is because the Ark of the Covenant is not on Earth. Instead, I believe God took the Ark to Heaven after Jesus was crucified.

a.   The Ark being the Old Covenant, Resurrected Jesus being the Ark of the New Covenant

2.   If Israel had accepted Jesus as the Savior, He would have remained on Earth after His resurrection and ruled from David’s throne (Isaiah 9:7) until God destroyed the Earth (“Plan A”)

3.   As Ezekiel 40-44 predicted, the Ark would have been placed in a temple on Earth and Jesus would have served in it as our high priest. When Israel rejected and crucified Jesus, the Father implemented an alternative plan (“Plan B”) and Jesus returned to Heaven. God took the Ark to Heaven about the time Jesus ascended because the new plan requires the Ark to be in Heaven’s temple.

c.   And there came flashes of lightning, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a severe storm
