SERMON
INTRODUCTION
The
Book of Revelation, or the Revelation of Christ, is the most difficult book in
the bible.
Because
of this fact, many avoid it, or ignore it all together. Some fear lack of
understanding, others afraid to misinterpret, which I guess it is better to
avoid than dive in and get it completely wrong.
Many
times, when a new believer comes to me for direction, they want to jump right
into Revelation and find out what’s to come.
This
is equivalent to deciding one day to learn Mandarin and sitting down to author
a novel in Chinese that very same day.
Or,
a kindergartner learning how to count, and then trying to calculate quantum
mechanics calculations.
The
words in Revelation have caused much debate on rapture, judgement, even some
who claim John was writing about the events in his day in code rather than
Jesus Christ revealing to him about the coming events and Judgment.
A
special blessing is promised to those who read Revelation.
Although
it may be a difficult book, we could all use a special blessing, reading this
is good for us all, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will take the
Revelation of Christ in small portions and gain understanding, little by
little.

SCRIPTURE READING
Revelation
9:13-21
13
The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four
horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel who
had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river
Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour
and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The
number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard
their number.
17
The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates
were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses
resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and
sulfur. 18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke
and sulfur that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in
their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads
with which they inflict injury.
20
The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent
of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of
gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21
Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality
or their thefts.
I.
THE 6TH ANGEL SOUNDED HIS TRUMPET (THE 2ND
WOE)
a.
I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the
Golden Altar before God
i. The Golden Altar before God
represents Christ’s sacrifice, therefore the voice coming from it must be that
of the Lord speaking to the 6th Angel who had received his Trumpet
from God.
ii. This is the altar that an
earlier angel scooped fire from in his censer which held the prayers of the
saints and cast it to earth.
b.
The voice said to the 6th Angel
i. Release the 4 angels who are
bound at the great river Euphrates
1. Euphrates is the dividing
line between the East and the West
2. It was the border of the
Roman Empire
3. Here it suggests that these
4 demonic angels which had been BOUND, were now released
c.
The 4 angels had been kept there ready
i. For this very hour and day
and month and year
1. This shoes that this was
ordained by God from the very beginning
2. Remember what Jesus said to
the disciples when they asked about the end times?
a. “But about that day or hour
no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
– Matthew
24:36
ii. They were released to kill
1/3 of mankind
iii. The number of the mounted
troops was TWICE 10,000 times 10,000
iv. John head this number
1. It appears here that John is
seeing these 4 demonic angels released from bondage where they had been kept
from demonically influencing the oriental people from invading the West.
2. The Orient East is notorious
for being socialists and communists who publicly and governmentally are
atheist, but privately many in the Eastern philosophies worship all sorts of
false gods and demons in their culture
3. Twice 10,000 times 10,000 is
200 Million
4. Right now in China alone
there are 1.4 Billion people, so an army of 200 Million invading the West is
very reasonable.
a. 200 million may not have
been the number of the literal army though…it may have been the number of
demonic armies infiltrating the world under the command of the 4 demonic angels
that had been released.
v. These are LITERAL armies
described in FIGURATIVE terms
II.
THE HORSES AND RIDERS I SAW LOOKED LIKE THIS;
a.
Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue and
yellow as sulfur
i. John describing things he
did not understand, these colors may have been flags of the various countries
of origin of the invading armies.
ii. The heads of the horses
resembled heads of lions
1. These “heads that resembled
lions” may have been mechanical war machines with rockets or machines guns
iii. Out of their mouths came
fire, smoke and sulfur
1. Flame throwers, missiles,
machines guns, all of these can appear as fire from the mouths of mechanical
war machines
b.
1/3 of mankind was killed by 3 plagues of fire, smoke
and sulfur that came out of their mouths
i. When the terms “fire, smoke,
sulfur (brimstone)” are used, the bible is describing weapons of Hell
ii. We see this used in 2 Kings
2:11; 6:13-17; Revelation 19:14
iii. Which may indicate the army
is empowered by the demons or the weapons themselves are of evil origins.
1. i.e. satanic influence of
humans to design evil weapons of destruction
c.
The power of the horses was in their mouths and in
their tails
i. Their tails were like
snakes, having heads with which they inflicted injury
ii. Mechanical war machines with
missiles and such
III.
THE REST OF MANKIND WHO WERE NOT KILLED;
a.
STILL did not repent
i. Of the WORK of their HANDS
ii. Why would they still not
repent????
1. “So I tell you this, and
insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in
the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated
from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the
hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given
themselves over to
sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of
greed.” Ephesians 4:17-19
iii. The religion and life of the
unredeemed man;
1. “The Spirit clearly says
that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits
and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars,
whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” 1 Timothy
4:1-2
b.
They DID NOT STOP
i. Worshipping demons
1. More than likely most false
religions got their start through the evil influences of demons
ii. Worshipping idols made of
gold, silver, bronze, stone or wood
iii. Idols that cannot see, hear
or walk
1. These do not even worship demons,
but lifeless objects before the true God
c.
NOR did they repent of their
i. Murders
ii. Magical arts
iii. Sexual immorality
iv. Or thefts
v. Repent means to turn away
from…so in light of all that has happened so far to the earth and the people in
it, they continued to live in their sins, not turning away from them, or asking
God for forgiveness.
CONCLUSION
