SERMON INTRODUCTION
The Book of Revelation, or the Revelation of Christ, is the most difficult book in the bible.

Because of this fact, many avoid it, or ignore it all together. Some fear lack of understanding, others afraid to misinterpret, which I guess it is better to avoid than dive in and get it completely wrong.

Many times, when a new believer comes to me for direction, they want to jump right into Revelation and find out what’s to come.

This is equivalent to deciding one day to learn Mandarin and sitting down to author a novel in Chinese that very same day.

Or, a kindergartener learning how to count, and then trying to calculate quantum mechanics calculations.

The words in Revelation have caused much debate on rapture, judgement, even some who claim John was writing about the events in his day in code rather than Jesus Christ revealing to him about the coming events and Judgment.

A special blessing is promised to those who read Revelation.

Although it may be a difficult book, we could all use a special blessing, reading this is good for us all, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will take the Revelation of Christ in small portions and gain understanding, little by little.

Part 12 – The Lamb is Worthy

SCRIPTURE READING
Revelation 5:6-14
Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”
14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

          I.      I SAW A LAMB
a.   Appearing as if it had been slain
                                     i.   Standing in the center of the Throne
1.   The crucified Christ appearing as a Lamb
2.   A Lamb that had been slain (pointing to the cross)

ii.   Encircled by the four living creatures and the 24 elders
1.   The Four living creatures symbolic of Christ as well
a.   Lion – King, how Christ will return
b.   Ox – Beast of burden, sacrifice
c.   Man – God came as a man, Jesus
d.   Eagle – symbolic of God

2.   So we have seen Jesus as the man on earth
3.   We watched as he lived a burdened life and was slain like sheep or cattle
4.   We realize and see He IS God, as the eagle far above us
5.   And we will see Him return as a Lion of Judah, a King!

b.   The Lamb had
                                     i.   Seven Horns
1.   Horns represent dominions, seven perfection
2.   Remember at the beginning of Revelation we see the Lord write seven letters to seven churches, EACH of these churches represent a “time-period” and condition of the Church during the “Age of Grace” or “The Church Age.”

3.   We are currently at the seventh and last condition of the seven churches in the church age, Laodicea, the selfish, materialistic church age.

4.   These 7 horns on the slain Lambs head represent
a.   Perfect dominion
b.   BECAUSE the Lamb was slain!
c.   Power, authority, dominion, given to man seven times, perfectly during the church age because of the slain Lamb (the cross!)

                                    ii.   Seven Eyes
1.   Which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth
a.   Again, showing perfect distribution of God’s Spirit to the Church, all seven stages of the Church!
b.   Giving us dominion, power, and strength THROUGH the Spirit that had been poured out to the seven seasons of the church age, perfectly, fully!

c.   The Lamb took the scroll from the right hand of Him who sat on the throne
                                     i.   The slain Lamb (symbolic of Jesus after the Cross) takes the scroll from the right hand of Him who sits on the throne…
1.   There is only 1 God
2.   Just as the four living creatures represent the Lord, the Slain Lamb also represents the crucified Lord
3.   So the crucified Christ removed the scroll from the hand of God the Father
ii.   When He took it the four living creatures, and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb
1.   In the original Greek, only the 24 Elders are mentioned here

iii.   Each had a harp, and they were holding golden bowls full of incense
1.   Which are the prayers of God’s people

II.      THE FOUR LIVING CREATURES AND 24 ELDERS SANG A NEW SONG
a.   You are worthy of taking the scroll
                                     i.   And open its seals
                                    ii.   Because you were slain
iii.   And with your blood you purchased for God

b.   People from every tribe, language and nation
                                     i.   In the Great Commission, Matthew 28:17 Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”

ii.   “…all nations…” is inclusive of “…every tribe, language and nation…”

c.   You have made them
                                     i.   To be a Kingdom
1.   Followers of Christ (saved, purchased of His blood)
2.   We are in the Kingdom of God!

ii.   And priests to serve our God
1.   1 Peter 2:9You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”

iii.   And they will reign on the earth
1.   Revelation 20:1-4 “Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain. He seized the dragon—the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan—and tied him up for a thousand years. The angel then threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)

Then I saw thrones and seated on them were those who had been given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. These had not worshiped the beast or his image and had refused to receive his mark on their forehead or hand. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”

        III.      THEN THE ANGELS APPEARED
a.   I heard thousands upon thousands, ten thousand times ten thousand
                                     i.   In Greek, 10,000 is the greatest number, so to say thousands upon thousands, ten thousand times ten thousand, in the Greek it actually says “myriads of myriads” or an innumerable host.
ii.   They encircled the throne with the four living creatures and the 24 elders
                                   iii.   And said in a loud voice;
iv.   Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain
                                    v.   To receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise

b.   Then I heard EVERY creature
                                     i.   In heaven – where john is actually standing
ii.   On earth – where all the living people are
iii.   Under the earth – Sheol, the place of departed spirits
iv.   On the sea – symbolic of “even the most desolate place on earth.” is included.
                                    v.   And all that is in them – again, showing no one is excluded! – say

c.   To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
                                     i.   Be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever
ii.   The four living creatures said AMEN, and the elders fell down and worshiped

CONCLUSION –
“AMEN’ means, “so be it”
The four living creatures (symbolic of Christ), say “so be it”, or “let it be so”
And the 24 elders, (representing God’s people from the Old Covenant and the new Covenant) fall down and worship
