SERMON TIMELINE
- Introduction
INTRODUCTION
Today is Sunday. May 28th,
2023
Our last series looked at the differing responsibilities
of the local and global church as well as what we as followers have been called
to do.
Keeping this in mind, this series will break down the
different ways we can serve the Lord and reach the lost who are in desperate
need of forgiveness and salvation in the name of Jesus Christ.
Jesus
becomes our Lord and Master when we become His servants
If you are a believer and follower of Jesus
Christ, then you should be doing this!
SCRIPTURE READING (Legacy Standard Bible)
Acts 1:8
“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and
you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and
even to the remotest part of the earth.”
TODAY’S MESSAGE
I.
MAKING DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS
a.
What does this mean?
i.
“…of
all nations…”
ii.
Mathew 25:31-36 ““But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with
Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. “And all the nations
will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates
the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats
on the left. “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are
blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom, which has been prepared for you from
the foundation of the world. ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to
eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and
you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I
was in prison, and you came to Me.’”
iii.
Luke 24:45-49 “Then
He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “Thus
it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the
third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name
to all the nations,
beginning from Jerusalem. “You are witnesses of these things. “And behold, I am
sending the promise of My Father upon you, but you are to stay in the city
until you are clothed with power from on high.”
iv.
…”all
nations…” means, make
disciples of every race, every color, every person, no matter where they are
born, where they come from, what nationality they claim.
1.
Even
ignore any belief they may have, for the Gospel and Good News of Repentance for
Forgiveness of sins proclaimed in His Name is for ALL PEOPLES.
b.
How can we personally achieve this?
i.
There
are so many ways we can serve as sheep to our Shepherd.
1.
America
is the Great Melting Pot
a.
This
phrase was popularized by the 1908 play by Israel Zangwill
2.
Just
a few of the differing ethnicity in America are
a.
Hispanic
or Latino
b.
Black
or African American
c.
Native
American
d.
Alaskan
e.
Asian
f.
Hawaiian
or Pacific Islander
3.
There
are MANY nations right here, all around us!
ii.
This
is GREAT for sharing the Good News face to face with other nations!
iii.
Not
to mention the Internet!
1.
Which
allows through social media and websites to communicate with people all around
the world!
2.
Creating
posts about faith
3.
Ministering
to others with love and scripture
4.
Encouraging
comments and prayers
iv.
There
has never been a EASIER time in our history to reach ALL NATIONS with the Good
News of Jesus Christ!
c.
The stages of answering the command of Jesus
i.
Who did Jesus give the command to?
1.
Disciples
(not the typical follower – new believer)
2.
That
does NOT discount new believers from sharing the Good News
3.
But
relieves new believers from the responsibility of “making disciples”
ii.
What did He tell them to do?
1.
Make
disciples
iii.
How did Jesus prepare them beforehand?
1.
These
disciples walked with Jesus for nearly 3 ½ years
2.
They
were NOT new believers
3.
They
were seasoned followers who had been trained and educated in the “discipline”
of Christ
4.
THIS
is what made them “disciples”
iv.
Are you a disciple?
1.
Or a
“new” believer?
2.
You
can still share the gospel and good news with others!
3.
You
don’t have to feel the pressure or responsibility to “making disciples,” until
you, yourself, have been seasoned and trained in the way of Christ.
