INTRODUCTION

Today is Sunday. May 14th, 2023

First of all, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Over the last few weeks we looked at Luke 5 and Matthew 28, broke down what Jesus said our mission and instruction were, and we looked at each part.

The Great Commission being the last instruction to the disciples before Jesus ascended into heaven, we KNOW what we are to be doing.

Going into all the world making disciples, baptizing, and then teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded.

This command and instruction from Jesus fulfills the Will of God.

I Timothy 2:3-6 “This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.”

This is God’s Will.

We accomplish God’s Will by doing what Jesus instructed, going into all the world making disciples, baptizing and teaching them to obey all Jesus commands.

Obedience to Jesus fulfills God’s Will!

From this Point we Assume you have Properly Answered the Lord’s Call.

You confessed you are a sinner in need of saving, called on the name of the Lord to be saved, repented of your sin and submitted to the Lord.

NOW you are part of the Body of Christ, and must perform the function the Lord created you for, and THIS, is the how of your life.

We spoke of the WHERE, and WHEN…in this very moment of your life, it is HERE and NOW!

Regardless of the how, you are here right now in your life. A believer who desires the Lord be your master, which can only happen if you are His servant, so you are willing to serve in whatever way you can.

Here, and now. The how is special to you, and comes from the Lord who has willed that no matter where you are in your walk, He can work through you to fulfill His Will in this fallen world which has very little time left. So, serve Him, and serve Him well!

SCRIPTURE READING (Legacy Standard Bible)

James 4:14

“Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”

TODAY’S MESSAGE

I.          ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD

a.      The Shortness of Breath

                                                 i.      James 4:14 “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”

ii.      Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”

iii.      1 Peter 1:24-25 “For, “ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.” And this is the word which was proclaimed to you as good news.”

b.     You do not know if you have Tomorrow

                                                 i.      Matthew 6:34 “…do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

ii.      Proverbs 27:1 “Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.”

iii.      James 4:13-15 “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to one who knows to do the right thing and does not do it, to him it is sin.

iv.      Luke 12:18-21 “Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. ‘And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you prepared?’ “So is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

c.      So LIVE for Today!

                                                 i.      Matthew 6:34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

ii.      Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in Yahweh with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

iii.      Romans 8:27-30 “and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose. Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers; and those whom He predestined, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified; and those whom He justified, He also glorified.”

1.      (1 Timothy 2:3-6 God’s Will ALL are saved!) Predestined for Salvation!

Ephesians 5

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

But sexual immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; nor filthiness and foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know with certainty, that no one sexually immoral or impure or greedy, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them, for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light (for the fruit of that light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.

And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead even expose them. For it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.

For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.”

Therefore look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

On account of this, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation (overindulgence), but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and being subject to one another in the fear of Christ.”

II.      YOU ARE HERE RIGHT NOW

a.      How you got Where you Are

                                                 i.       Who your parents are

                                               ii.      Where you grew up

iii.      How much money your family had

                                             iv.      Where you were educated

                                               v.       Trauma that happened to you

vi.      Your natural abilities you were born with

vii.      There are so many things in this world which made you what you are today…which is FAR from what the Lord created you to BE!

b.     When you got Where you Are Now

                                                 i.      Remember Romans 8? “…And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose…”

ii.      When you belong to the Lord, you are a NEW creation, and the Lord begins a work in you transforming you into who He created you to be.

1.      Each day you are one step closer to the person God intended and one step further from the person this fallen and sinful world perverted you to becoming.

iii.      You are exactly where the Lord can use you, at exactly the right time!

c.      How you Got Here

                                                 i.      Becomes your story of how you were lost (what the world made you through personal experiences) and how the Lord found you and called you out of darkness and into the light.

ii.      You can now share the story of how you grow more in the Lord each day!

iii.      It is your life's goal to help others escape their bondage to sin

iv.      Your desire to share the light, and free others from darkness

THIS is the “Good News” and HOPE for those lost in this world.

III.   THE HOW OF YOUR STORY

a.      Your Story of being Lost

                                                 i.      Your story is yours, though others may relate

ii.      As bad as your past, the more Glory to God for your redemption

iii.      It’s not about the gory details as much as it is about your brokenness and hurt

iv.      Because that is what God heals, not the past which cannot be changed, rather the future in giving you HOPE for what is now to come because of Jesus!

b.     Your Story of being Found

                                                 i.      The story of how you came to surrender to Christ is also yours alone, though it may encourage others

ii.      Where you were when Jesus became your Lord is not where you are today

iii.      Knowing Him moved you, and is moving you

iv.      Moving you toward what He created you to be, and away from what this world made you

c.      Your Story of Loving and Growing in the Lord

                                                 i.      Encouraging others through your experience with God

ii.      Honesty about how unpredictable this world still is, but how the Lord never changes

iii.      He is the mighty fortress, and the un-moving Rock upon which you can build your future, place your trust, and find your peace in the storms of this life.

The Lord of When, Where and How!

CONCLUSION

Whether you are reading Luke 5 or Matthew 28, the Lord calls His disciples, and they answer that call. The are where they need to be when they need to be there, and they are always looking for ways they can share about the Lord to help others.
